HOW TO: Tie a Van Wijk Knot

Here comes the Professor of Knots, Kevin Allen (Severus Snape and the Marauders and The New Adventures of Pinkgirl and The Scone) once again to teach us how to look our best! This time the lesson is to tie a Van Wijk knot like a Hufflepuff! This variation of the Prince Albert knot is an incredibly tall and cylindrical knot which when tied correctly gives us an irregular, yet striking look.

We suggest using this knot for less formal occasions, but if you do want to use it for something formal then perhaps make the knot a bit tighter. It works best for thinner men and wearing a vest can help accentuate the knot.

Be sure to subscribe to the ‘Suit Up! Geek Out!’ YouTube channel and follow Mr. Allen on his Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! Also check out Allen’s other lessons such as transmogrifying a necktie into a bow tie and the Full Windsor knot.
